Pastor's Weekly Update: Sunday, September 18th

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We shared with you at Mass today our annual fiscal update for the 2021-2022 program / budget year. It is exciting to see that our parish is in a strong position to continue growing. Thanks to your generosity, we have been good stewards of the resources of our parish and been able to save for major expenditures while also working to align our financial priorities with the pastoral priorities identified in our Parish Priority Plan, which we continue working to implement.

As I mentioned at Mass, our strong financial position has enabled us to take advantage of a great opportunity that presented itself last month: the prospective purchase of the former law office building across Main Street from our church. This will allow us to complete one of our most challenging priorities from our priority plan: a combined parish office space that can accommodate all of our employees (other than those in the parish school) in a manner that enables us to serve you better. We will have clear signage, plenty of parking, and a clear visual relationship with the church that will make our offices much easier to find. Ramp access also will make our new offices more accessible to all. I really believe that this opportunity came to us through the work of the Holy Spirit!

We are in a position to purchase this building without additional fundraising or borrowing due to the regular, consistent generosity of our parishioners. When everyone gives sacrificially from a commitment to the Lord on a regular basis, our parish can take advantage of great opportunities like this. We have a lot of work to do before moving in, though. Parts of the building are in need of cosmetic touches, and others need more extensive renovations. We will be calling on you soon to lend a hand – especially the many members of our parish with experience in home renovations and building trades. Working together on this project will build more unity in our parish as well!

Working on this project this past month, I have been so excited for the great opportunity it presents to our parish. I’ve also been extremely grateful for the wisdom and leadership of our Finance Council in supporting this endeavor and helping me through the process. I feel a powerful sense of honor and pride in acting on behalf of our parish. We have so much to thank the Lord for!

Recent read: The Violent Take it Away by Flannery O’Connor. One of only two short books written by one of 20th century America’s greatest authors. O’Connor is justly famous for her innovative portrayal of the “violent” workings of divine grace.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,

Compartimos con ustedes en la Misa de hoy nuestra actualización fiscal anual para el año 2021-2022 del programa / presupuesto. Es emocionante ver que nuestra parroquia está en una posición fuerte para continuar creciendo. Gracias a su generosidad, hemos sido buenos administradores de los recursos de nuestra parroquia y hemos podido ahorrar para gastos mayores mientras también trabajamos para alinear nuestras prioridades financieras con las prioridades pastorales identificadas en nuestro Plan de Prioridad Parroquial, el cual continuamos trabajando para implementar.

Como mencioné en la misa, posición financiera nos ha permitido aprovechar una gran oportunidad que se presentó el mes pasado: la posible compra del antiguo edificio de oficinas legales enfrente de la iglesia en Main Street. Esto nos permitirá completar una de nuestras prioridades más desafiantes de nuestro plan de prioridades: un espacio de oficina parroquial combinado que pueda acomodar a todos nuestros empleados (excepto los de la escuela parroquial) de una manera que nos permita servirle mejor. Tendremos un letrero mas claro, mucho estacionamiento y una clara relación visual con la iglesia que hará que nuestras oficinas sean mucho más fáciles de encontrar. El acceso con rampa también hará que nuestras nuevas oficinas sean más accesibles para todos. ¡Realmente creo que esta oportunidad nos llegó a través de la obra del Espíritu Santo!

Estamos en una posición de comprar este edificio sin recaudación de fondos o préstamos adicionales debido a la generosidad regular y constante de nuestros feligreses. Cuando todos dan sacrificialmente de un compromiso con el Señor en una base regular, nuestra parroquia puede aprovechar grandes oportunidades como esta. Sin embargo, tenemos mucho trabajo por hacer antes de mudarnos. Algunas partes del edificio necesitan toques cosméticos, y otras necesitan renovaciones más extensas. Pronto le pediremos que eche una mano, especialmente a los muchos miembros de nuestra parroquia con experiencia en renovaciones de casas y oficios de construcción. ¡Trabajar juntos en este proyecto también construirá más unidad en nuestra parroquia!

Trabajando en este proyecto el mes pasado, he estado muy emocionado por la gran oportunidad que presenta a nuestra parroquia. También he estoy extremadamente agradecido por la sabiduría y el liderazgo de nuestro Consejo de Finanzas al apoyar este esfuerzo y ayudarme a través del proceso. Siento un poderoso sentido de honor y orgullo al actuar en nombre de nuestra parroquia. ¡Tenemos mucho que agradecer al Señor!
