Pastor's Weekly Update: Sunday, August 28th

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We welcome today Father Jason LaLonde, S.J., who is celebrating the English Masses. Father LaLonde is a doctoral student at the University of Notre Dame. I am always so appreciative of the priests who come to help us so that Father Parrish and I can spend time with our families. It is not always easy to find substitute priests, especially ones I trust turning my pulpit over to! Please be sure to show Father LaLonde your warm appreciation as well.

We’re less than a month away from our parish festival now! I had a fantastic time last year and I know many of you did too. Here’s some ways that the festival will be even better this year:

· More live entertainment

· Even more family-friendly with reduced prices on kids’ games

· Even greater variety of food, including delicious barbeque

· Improved beer tent

· Even more new parishioners to meet and welcome to our parish!

If you are one of the new faces I mentioned last week, make sure to be there on Saturday, September 24 to meet more of the great people who call St. John the Evangelist home!

Recent read: The Book of Genesis. I recently resumed a practice I had from seminary of reading a chapter of the Bible each day. I’ve started at the beginning.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,

Hoy le damos la bienvenida al Padre Jason LaLonde, S.J., quien está celebrando las Misas en inglés. El Padre LaLonde es estudiante de doctorado en la Universidad de Notre Dame. Siempre estoy muy agradecido por los sacerdotes que vienen a ayudarnos para que el Padre Parrish y yo podamos pasar tiempo con nuestras familias. No siempre es fácil encontrar a sacerdotes sustitutos, ¡especialmente aquellos que les confío mi púlpito! Por favor, también asegúrese de mostrarle al Padre LaLonde su cálido aprecio.

¡Ahora estamos a menos de un mes de nuestro festival parroquial! Me lo pasé de maravilla el año pasado y sé que muchos de ustedes también lo hicieron. Aquí hay algunas maneras en las que el festival será aún mejor este año:
