Pastor's Weekly Message: Sunday, July 17

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We’ve mentioned several times the importance of praying for our state legislature’s special session, now beginning July 25th, since this session will involve examining potential legislation to restrict access to abortion in the State of Indiana. We must continue praying and fasting for the protection of all innocent human lives, from the moment of conception!

As of this writing, we are still look for a new Religious Education Coordinator. This is a full time position with benefits. If you know someone who might be interested in this position – or who could be persuaded to be interested in this position – please encourage him or her to apply! We are looking for:

· A passionate disciple of Jesus Christ who wants to make disciples

· Someone with a thorough knowledge of the Catholic faith. (Academic qualifications are preferred but other sources of formation can also be considered.)

· The ability to form and inspire catechists and students

· Fully bilingual (written and oral) in English and Spanish

Recent read: La leyenda negra [The Black Legend] by Julián Juderías. This was the first book to expose the anti-Spanish bias in world history known as the “black legend.” This bias has colored perceptions of Spain, its colonies, and the Church since the 1500s. It is responsible for many commonplace misconceptions regarding the conquest of the Americas, the Inquisition, the “backwardness” of Spain, and many other historical falsities that are accepted as obvious fact by the great majority of people.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,

Hemos mencionado varias veces la importancia de orar por la sesión especial de nuestra legislatura estatal, que ahora comienza el 25 de julio, ya que esta sesión implicará el examinar la posible legislación para restringir el acceso al aborto en el estado de Indiana. ¡Debemos seguir ayunando y rezando por la protección de todas las vidas humanas inocentes, desde el momento de la concepción.

Al momento de escribir este artículo, todavía estamos buscando un nuevo coordinador de Educación Religiosa (catequesis). Éste es un puesto de tiempo completo con beneficios. Si usted conoce a alguien que podría estar interesado en este puesto,¡anímelo a que aplique! Buscamos:

· Un discípulo apasionado de Jesucristo que quiera hacer discípulos

· Alguien con un conocimiento profundo de la fe católica. (Se prefieren las calificaciones académicas, pero también se pueden considerar otras fuentes de formación)

· La capacidad de formar e inspirar a catequistas y estudiantes

· Totalmente bilingüe (escrito y oral) en inglés y español
