Pastor's Weekly Update: Confession and Adoration resume this week!

May the Lord continue to watch over and protect as we work towards resuming public worship once again! Over the past week we have been working hard to integrate the instructions from the State of Indiana and our Diocese on how we can resume the public celebration of Holy Mass on May 23rd and 24th (the Solemnity of the Ascension). In the meantime, Baptisms, funerals, and weddings are no longer limited to 10 people or less, and Confessions and Adoration may begin. Over the next two weeks, May 11 – 22, we will offer confessions and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday - Friday. Receiving the Sacrament of Confession will help us to be ready to receive Christ in Holy Communion again, especially since many of us were not able to participate in Confession during the Lenten season. When you come for Confession and Adoration, there will be several changes to the layout of our church in order to help you maintain a healthy distance from one another. The entrance will be by the Main Street door only. Please watch the below video on what to expect before coming, and review the flow chart. We also ask that you follow all posted signage in the church. It is for your protection and the good of our community. Within the next week, we will release a comprehensive plan for the resumption of public celebrations of Holy Mass. In the meantime, we can share the following with you:
The Sunday Mass schedule will be significantly altered in order to add two Masses.
Overflow seating will be available in the gym for some Masses with a simulcast and the opportunity for Communion.
There will be Masses designated for those in high risk categories.
We will not employ a ticketing system.
We continue to analyze the data regarding the risks created by congregational singing. For now, there will definitely be at least some Masses designated with no music and with no congregational singing to minimize that risk.
We will share instructions regarding Holy Communion soon. It will be possible to go to Holy Communion without significant risk and all standard liturgical norms will be followed with the utmost respect for the Blessed Sacrament.
High-touch surfaces will be sanitized between Masses. Hand sanitizer will be available.
Everyone attending Mass must wear a facial covering. We will have a limited number of masks available for those who do not have a mask.
We will definitely need help with ushers and cleaning. Look for the full reopening plan this week to learn how to volunteer. It will be by an electronic rather than call-in system.
¡Que el Señor sigue protegiéndonos y guiándonos mientras que trabajemos para resumir la Misa pública otra vez! En la última semana, hemos estado trabajando para integrar las normas del Estado de Indiana y nuestra diócesis sobre la reanudación de la Misa pública el 23 y 24 de Mayo (Solemnidad de la Ascención del Señor). En el medio tiempo, los bautismos, funerales y bodas ya no tienen limite de 10 personas, y el horario de confesiones y adoración al Santísimo pueden resumir. En las dos próximas semanas, 11-22 de Mayo, ofrecemos confesiones y la Adoración al Santísimo de 5 - 8 p.m. lunes - viernes. El horario de los domingos será sustancialmente diferente para añadir dos Misas para aumentar la capacidad.
Habrán asientos de desbordamiento en el gimnasio para unas Misas con transmisión de la Misa y la Comunión.
Habrán Misas para las personas en categorías de alto riesgo para el virus.
No tendremos un sistema de boletos para las Misas.
Seguimos analizando los riesgos creados por el canto y su aumento de riesgo de transmisión del virus. Por ahora, definitivamente habrán al menos unas Misas sin canto para minimizar este riesgo.
Compartiremos instrucciones sobre la Santa Comunión pronto. Será posible comulgar sin riesgo significante y seguiremos todas las normas litúrgicas con respecto altísimo para el Santísimo Sacramento.
Superficies que reciben mucho contacto estarán desinfectados después de Misa. Alcohol en gel será disponible también.
Todos que frecuentan la Misa deben de llevar cubrebocas. Tendremos un número limitado de mascarillas disponibles para los que no la tiene.
Definitivamente necesitaremos ayuda con el aseo del templo y otros aspectos también. Estaremos en contacto sobre como puede ofrecerse. Será por medio de un sistema electronica en vez de por llamadas.
